Bio

Kerry Brown is Professor of Chinese Studies and Director of the Lau China Institute at King's College, London. Brown’s extensive experience includes working with the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, including a role as first secretary at the British Embassy in Beijing. Brown, recognised for his expertise in modern Chinese politics, has authored over 20 books on the subject and played a crucial role in directing the Europe China Research and Advice Network between 2010 to 2014 giving policy advice to the European Union External Action Service. Brown has a MA from Cambridge University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Mandarin Chinese from Thames Valley University, London and a PhD in Chinese politics and language from Leeds University.
